Texas Careers in San Antonio, Texas was founded in November 1989 as Modencare, Inc., and taught the certified nurse aide program. Texas Careers was originally organized to provide education in medically-related careers. Through the years, the school expanded its health care program offerings and added other fields of study.

Texas Careers has campuses in Laredo, Beaumont, and Lubbock. In January 2002, Texas Educational Ventures LLP, an organization owned by Quest Education Corporation, acquired Texas Careers. Later that year, Quest changed its name to Kaplan Higher Education (KHE). Kaplan is dedicated to continuing to offer the quality education for which Texas Careers is known.
