The first Herzing College was founded as a computer programming school in 1965 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Henry and Suzanne Herzing. Since 1965, Herzing College has grown from a modest classroom to a progressive leader in career education with six campuses in the U.S., and other affiliated colleges, five of which are in Canada.

Herzing College offers certificate and degree programs online enabling students in diverse locations nationwide to advance their career by obtaining a higher education. Herzing College distance learning instructors are specially trained to teach in a virtual Internet environment to make learning online an interactive, stimulating and satisfying experience for everyone involved. Each Herzing College has an Career Services Department that is dedicated to:

* Preparing students with job-seeking skills
* Working with students to develop a polished resume
* Providing individual assistance during the job search process
* Working with area employers to develop job leads and interviews
* Assisting students with part-time employment (if needed) while enrolled in classes at Herzing

At Herzing College, experience staff work individual with students to develop financial plans to pay for their education. Potential resources include a combination of financial aid, family contributions, employer tuition reimbursement plans, and/or veterans/GI benefits to those who qualify (US). Federal financial aid is available to those who qualify.

Herzing College is accredited by either the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) as well as the licensed in their respective states. Also, Herzing Colleges in the United States is a candidate with The Higher Learning Commission and as affiliate of the North Central Association. In Canada Herzing College is licensed by the Ministry of education in their respective provinces.
